Intermountain Health Registered Nurse Expanded Role Operating Room in St George, Utah

Job Description:

The RN Clinical Expanded II is responsible for identifying, coordinating, and evaluating projects and assignments. This position provides clinical expertise, consultation, education and research to their designated area or specialty focus. This position serves as a change agent by accepting and facilitating change. The incumbent is proactive and assumes a clinical leadership position.

This Registered Nurse will be working as a member of the specialized Cardiovascular Team at St. George Regional Hospital (SGRH), located in sunny St. George, Utah.

This is a close team of RNs and CSTs working with three CVOR surgeons on a dynamic range of cases. The team shares responsibility with our vascular services team to cover both open and hybrid procedures, plus call.

Our services include the wide range of surgeries across the Cardiac, Vascular and Structural Heart spectrums with the exception of transplant and mechanical circulatory support. Our average volume is 250-300 open hearts cases annually.

We have 1 dedicated Cardiovascular Operating Room, which is the newest of our ORs and was built specifically for CV cases. We also have a dedicated Hybrid Room for vascular cases. We are committed to the development of our team members and offer training into the CVOR for experienced OR nurses.

This team has earned the distinction of earning a 3 star rating from The Society of Thoracic Surgeons which means our outcomes are in the top 10% of all centers in the US. This team was also instrumental in having SGRH named as one of America’s 50 Best Hospitals for Vascular Surgery in 2021 and 2022 by Healthgrades as well as the Surgical Care Excellence Award in 2022. SGRH was also awarded the Patient Safety Excellence Award and Outstanding Patient Experience Award in 2022 and 2023.

Hours : Full Time - 40 hours/week

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current RN License that allows you to practice in the state of Utah.

  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

(Applicants must either have required additional certifications (e.g. ACLS, PALs, NRP) upon hire or must obtain them within a specified timeframe determined by service line and department guidelines.)

  • Two years of clinical nursing experience.

  • Experience in Operating Room nursing.

  • Leadership and mentoring experience.

RNs hired or promoted into this role need to have or obtain their BSN within three years of hire or promotion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN). Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.

  • Cardiac Operating Room RN experience.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$38.83 - $57.46
