Intermountain Health Nutrition Retail Lead in Salt Lake City, Utah

Job Description:

This position is responsible to lead the nutrition retail team when other leadership is not on-site within the Culinary Services department in the hospital while fulfilling the role of the Nutrition Care Associate. Resolves immediate issues such as service recovery, coaching/redirecting caregivers, and rearranging staffing. Escalates to manager as appropriate.

This position may be responsible for ordering and rotating supplies, and for planning, organizing, and facilitating catering functions and/or leading a satellite café location. Supports facility efforts to improve the guest experience.

  • Leads and maintains workflow of assigned area and ensures tasks are completed.

  • Resolves immediate issues such as service recovery, coaching/redirecting caregivers, and rearranging staffing. Escalates to management as appropriate.

  • Contributes to achievement of consumer satisfaction goals. Creates a positive experience for each patient and guest.

  • Responsible to ensure areas are stocked and presentable for guests.

  • Open, balance and reconcile POS register drawers.

  • Participates in orienting, training, scheduling, coaching, and leading employees as appropriate.

  • Assists in keeping storage areas clean and organized to ensure all Joint Commission and Health Department guidelines are followed.

  • Ensures that department standards for quality, sanitation, and safety are met.

  • Ensures a quality Nutrition Services operation, including production, customer service, and training.

  • Ensures caregiver competency.

  • Responsible to implement, under the direction of the Nutrition Services Manager, best practice, system-level initiatives.

  • Participate in and aligns services with all department guidelines including zero harm, goals, continuous improvement and more agencies and hospital.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Nutrition Services Manager.

Minimum Requirements

  • Current food handlers permit as required by county.

  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years related food service experience.

  • Six months supervisory or lead experience.

  • Serv safe certification

  • One-year experience in Hospital Nutrition Services

  • Interact with others by effectively communicating, both orally and in writing.

  • Operate computers and other office equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.

  • See and read computer monitors, label and documents.

  • Carry, push/pull and walk while transporting food, supplies and service equipment.

  • Climb, squat, kneel and lift to clean and reach and retrieve food and supplies

  • Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.

  • May require lifting and transporting objects and office supplies, bending, kneeling and reaching.

  • Tolerate cold extremes in temperature.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$19.27 - $25.48
