Intermountain Health Volunteer Utah Valley Hospital unpaid in Provo, Utah

Job Description:

Unpaid volunteer contributing time to Intermountain Healthcare in various roles.

We have the following expectations of our volunteers at Utah Valley Hospital: understanding that our patients, families and guests are our first priority, a consecutive six month commitment, about 4 hours given once a week andcommunication with our volunteer services office.

Once you have applied and interviewed you will be able to decide on the area and time of your position that works best with your schedule. Every new volunteer is given a choice of several information desk positions to choose from for the first 3 months. After you have completed that initial 3 months you then have a choice to stay in that position or move to some of the following areas: Cardiac Rehab, Diagnostic Imaging, Emergency Department, Gift Shop, Critical Care Runner, Several Information Desks, Messenger, Mother/Baby, Operating Room Runner, Outpatient Center, Patient Visitor, Pediatrics, Surgery Platform, Wound Care. Some of the volunteer areas will not be available because all the positions are filled in that specific area.

Please be advised that the volunteering process is intensive and may take 2-3 weeks to get through.

Basic Competencies (knowledge, motor skills and behaviors): Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Sensitive to patient and family situations / dynamics Able to speak, read and understand English Able to work alone and independently (within scope of assigned duties) Work with diverse populations Ability to recognize boundaries and limitations of duties and not act independently of those functions

Service Activities (tasks and expectations): Your duties will vary depending on the area you choose to volunteer in.
