Intermountain Healthcare Business Application Spec II in Midvale, Utah

Job Description:

This position works under the direction of the Business Application Supervisor and Manager. The Business Application Specialist II works close with Analysts and stakeholders and is accountable for the effective supervision and coordination of all necessary ERP and other business system maintenance and reporting for assigned departments, facilities and/or processes. This position provides critical support for supply chain, shared services, financial, operational, and distribution processes within the Intermountain system.


The Business Application Analyst II is part of a centralized, system wide business applications team responsible for overall production, configuration, and support for enterprise-wide application in their area of accountability.

Job Essentials

  1. Performs local system maintenance and runs financial and operational data per corporate standards. This Includes performing and monitoring database maintenance, and reviewing various financial, operational, and maintenance reports for accuracy.

  2. Coordinates with the business operation areas on the use of operational and financial systems as well as ancillary tools.

  3. Measures and assesses system, operational, financial processes, and performance for assigned departments / facilities for compliance to policy as well as standard operating and financial procedures.

  4. Provides ongoing training and support on all financial, operational, supply chain, and shared services system tools. Supports implementation of new tools and processes for assigned departments and/or facilities.

  5. Supports implementation and training of new system releases / upgrades for assigned facilities / teams. Assists with Beta testing as needed. Provides statistics and analysis as needed.

  6. Researches and resolves system, operational, and financial related problems for assigned facilities. Coordinates with Central Supply Chain, Finance, Clinical Engineering, Facilities Maintenance, and Information Systems teams as needed.

  7. Reviews system, financial, and operational day-end and month-end reports for assigned locations. Responsible to resolve and explain any system, financial, or operational discrepancies

  8. Facilitates physical inventory and cycle counts, and other inventory management activities for assigned facilities.

  9. Travels as required to participate on teams and to meet the needs of assigned facilities.

Minimum Qualifications

Actively working towards a bachelor's degree with six years of related professional experience. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.

Bachelor's degree with four years of experience working within related area,

  • or -

Masters degree with two years of professional work experience,

  • and -

Experience in a role requiring proficiency at solving complex problems and demonstrated ability to think and plan on a broad level and also able to process information and details on a tactical level.

  • and -

Demonstrated intermediate SQL or comparable query language.

  • and -

Experience in interpretation of data from multiple data sources and multiple data structures.

  • and -

Experience in a role requiring effective communication of business concepts to technical and non-technical personnel and bringing order to ideas and processes.

  • and -

Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet, and e-mail.

  • and -

Experience in a role requiring effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business Management or Computer Science obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified.

Demonstrated knowledge of related professional experience through certification such as Certified Public Accountant, or Certified Supply Chain Professional, Professional Business Analyst.

Experience and knowledge of the Healthcare Industry or Healthcare Supply Chain.

One year of hands-on experience with PeopleSoft, Tecsys, SQL and/or e-commerce query language

Physical Requirements:

Interact with others requiring the employee to communicate information.
