Intermountain Health Licensed Practical Nurse Utilization Review in Las Vegas, Nevada
Job Description:
The LPN, under the direction of a registered nurse, licensed physician, or other specified health care professional, participates in patient care commensurate to Scope of Practice.
Posting Specifics:
Full time, 40 hours, 8:00am-5:00pm, rotating holiday coverage and one weekend day shift - this role has some in person responsibilities but also has the ability to work from home. Remote option available after initial training period.
Additional Shift Details: Reviews requests for medical treatments, services, or procedures to determine whether they qualify for insurance coverage. The job requires nurses to assess, evaluate, and provide recommendations to help ensure patients receive the services they need.

Minimum Qualifications
Current LPN License in state of practice.
Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
Approved IV Certification (As required by facility).
Clean driving record.
Ability to link-up to the company on-line database twice a day
Preferred Qualifications:
- Utilization Management/Prior Authorization experience preferred
Job Essentials
Patient Care:
May assist in the admission and check-in process by orienting patient or significant other to patient care setting (e.g., routines, patient care, patient rights). Assists with the completion of needed forms.
Assists in the collection, reporting, and documentation of appropriate assessment data. This may include taking and recording vital signs, height and weight, current medication information, and billing information.
Identifies patient pain or discomfort and reports and responds appropriately.
Assists patients with Activities of Daily Living.
Prepares patient for medical or surgical medical interventions.
Completes interventions within Scope of Practice.
Assists physician or licensed independent practitioner with treatments or procedures.
Obtains and tracks specimens for laboratory analysis (e.g., venipunctures, stool, urine).
Prepares, administers, and manages medication (oral, IM, SQ, rectal, intradermal).
Assists with stocking and coordinating supplies as needed.
Documentation:
- Appropriately documents assessment data, interventions, physician and independent practitioner orders (verbal or phone that fall within the LPN's Scope of Practice and must be signed by an RN), update of care plan, update changes to discharge planning, medication administration, and patient and family education.
Communication:
Appropriately communicates with supervisory RN, physician, or licensed independent practitioner regarding assessment findings, changes in patient condition, patient history data, implementation or changes to plan of care or discharge plan, and physician or independent practitioner orders (verbal or phone).
Participates in patient education.
Professionalism:
Integrates legal and ethical standards into practice including compliance with regulatory standards, practices within scope of licensure, provides accurate and timely documentation, and understands legal implications of care delivery.
Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for own practice.
Participates in quality improvement projects and initiatives.
May act as a lead, mentor, or trainer to other staff.

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.

Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.

Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.

Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.

Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).

May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
