The Registered Radiology Technologist performs medical imaging examinations under the direction of a physician.

Scope

As an Imaging Tech I Diagnostic Radiology you need to know how to:

  • Access, manage and update patient medical records through Hospital Electronic Medical Record Information System. - Accurately access patient medical records- Input physicians orders appropriately to patients records- Review documentation for ongoing patient care- Communicate patient record with ancillary hospital services- Maintain patient confidentiality as outlined by privacy and HIPAA guidelines- Practice core competencies according to the ARRT Standards of Ethics.

  • Educate, interviews, screens and explains imaging and safety procedures to patients regarding the biological effects of radiation and/or magnetic field protection and safety prior to beginning any imaging procedure to reduce anxiety and obtain patient cooperation.

  • Position patient on imaging table and utilizes immobilization devices as warranted for safety or to obtain optimum views of specified areas of the body as requested by a Physician and following protocols developed by a Radiologist.

  • Administer contrast media orally or in intravenous administration according to Radiologist and/or Pharmacy guidelines- Monitor patient during procedures either through direct contact, by the use of two-way voice communication or through control room window and/or closed circuit TV screen.

  • Practice universal safety precautions, radiation protection techniques and magnetic field education to minimize exposure to patient, self and staff.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or diploma from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training, required.

  • Current ARRT certification, required.

  • Current Montana State Licensure, required.

  • Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association, required.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$23.95 - $38.57
